Universal Display Corporation to Acquire Emissive OLED Patent Assets from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany

Universal Display (Nasdaq: OLED) entered a definitive agreement to acquire a portfolio of emissive OLED patent assets from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. The package includes more than 300 issued and pending patents across 110+ families, with an average remaining life of ~10 years. UDC stated the acquisition will broaden its patent coverage and complement its R&D and materials discovery platforms. Closing is expected in January 2026, subject to customary conditions.
