Nova Compression, LLC has successfully acquired the operating assets of Energy Gas Compression, Inc. (EGC) for an undisclosed amount, a transaction that closed on July 3, 2026. This acquisition significantly enhances Nova's operational capabilities, adding approximately 52,000 active horsepower and 6,500 idle horsepower to its existing fleet. With this expansion, Nova's total fleet now reaches approximately 400,000 horsepower, reinforcing its presence in the Eagle Ford Basin and the broader South Texas market.

Founded in 2004 and based in Corpus Christi, EGC has established itself as a reliable provider of compression services, known for its technical expertise and strong customer relationships. The acquisition not only integrates EGC’s fleet and customer contracts into Nova's operations but also brings along its experienced workforce, trucks, service equipment, and other essential operating assets. This strategic move is designed to ensure continuity for EGC’s existing customers while enhancing Nova's ability to deliver comprehensive support to producers in one of the nation's most active oil and gas regions.

The acquisition is expected to have a positive impact on Nova's operational footprint in South Texas, particularly in the Eagle Ford Basin, which is recognized for its significant oil and gas production. By increasing its horsepower capacity, Nova is better positioned to meet the growing demand for natural gas compression services in this critical market. The transaction aligns with Nova's strategy to expand its service offerings and operational efficiency, allowing the company to provide enhanced solutions to its clients.

Financially, the acquisition was supported by an asset-based lending facility led by J.P. Morgan, with participation from Bank OZK, First Citizens Bank, and Sunflower Bank. This financial backing, combined with the ongoing support from Nova's shareholders, including OIC LP and Hoak & Co., positions the company for continued growth and investment in its operational capabilities.

Looking ahead, the acquisition of EGC is likely to pave the way for further consolidation in the natural gas compression sector as companies seek to enhance their market presence and operational efficiency. As the demand for natural gas continues to rise, driven by both domestic and international markets, Nova Compression's expanded fleet and strengthened regional presence may provide a competitive advantage in securing new contracts and fostering long-term customer relationships. The transaction underscores the ongoing trend of strategic acquisitions in the energy sector, reflecting a broader commitment to operational excellence and customer service.
