Siemens to acquire Precision Innovations to expand AI-powered system-on-a-chip design exploration and optimization

Siemens AG has signed an agreement to acquire Precision Innovations Inc., a privately held electronic design automation (EDA) software company, for an undisclosed amount. The transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter of calendar year 2026, is set to enhance Siemens' EDA portfolio by integrating AI-powered chip planning capabilities. Founded in 2019 and based in San Diego, California, Precision Innovations specializes in EDA software built on the open-source OpenROAD framework. Its technology enables semiconductor teams to evaluate design feasibility, reduce design iterations, and accelerate time to market, particularly as the complexity of SoC architectures continues to grow. By incorporating Precision Innovations' solutions, Siemens will strengthen its existing digital design and verification offerings, providing a more comprehensive digital flow that spans architecture, implementation, and silicon lifecycle management.
