On September 7, 2026, Multiconsult ASA and Rejlers AB announced a joint cross-border merger plan, set to create a leading pan-Nordic multidisciplinary consultancy group named Multiconsult Rejlers. The deal, which involves an undisclosed amount, will see each Multiconsult shareholder receive 0.9725 Rejlers class B shares for every Multiconsult share, resulting in a combined ownership structure of 54% for Multiconsult shareholders and 46% for Rejlers shareholders. The newly formed entity is projected to have a market capitalization of nearly SEK 8 billion.

Both Multiconsult and Rejlers have established themselves as significant players in the consultancy sector, each boasting a strong portfolio of services and a dedicated workforce. Multiconsult, based in Norway, has a robust presence in the energy and industry sectors, along with operations in Denmark, Poland, and the UK. Rejlers, on the other hand, has a stronghold in Sweden and Finland, with expertise in energy, infrastructure, and building sectors. The merger is expected to leverage the complementary strengths of both companies, creating a more comprehensive service offering and enhancing geographic reach across the Nordic region.

The strategic rationale behind the merger centers on positioning the new entity for accelerated growth and profitability. By combining their resources and expertise, Multiconsult Rejlers aims to become a natural partner for large-scale and transformational projects in the Nordic region. The merger is anticipated to yield annual cost synergies of approximately SEK 100-120 million within three years, driven by efficiency gains in IT, procurement, and administrative functions. Furthermore, the combined workforce of nearly 8,000 employees will foster collaboration and innovation, enhancing the group’s ability to attract and retain top talent.

In addition to operational synergies, the merger is expected to strengthen Multiconsult Rejlers' market position, enabling it to better serve larger clients and undertake complex projects across various sectors. The enhanced scale and financial strength will facilitate further investments in technology, including Artificial Intelligence, and support ongoing employee development initiatives. This strategic alignment positions the combined group to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the consultancy market, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development and energy transition.

The merger of Multiconsult and Rejlers reflects broader trends in the consultancy sector, where firms are increasingly seeking to consolidate to enhance their competitive edge. As the demand for multidisciplinary expertise grows, particularly in the context of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects, the formation of Multiconsult Rejlers is likely to set a precedent for future mergers and acquisitions within the industry. The combined entity is poised to play a significant role in shaping the future landscape of consultancy services in the Nordic region, with an emphasis on innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
